SmartUpdate in MDS level shows different licensing information than SmartUpdate in Domain level
Symptoms
  • SmartUpdate in MDS level shows different licensing information than SmartUpdate in Domain level (which shows the correct information).

    Example:

Originally, all Security Gateways had NGX licenses. Over time, NGX licenses were upgraded to Software Blades licenses. While SmartUpdate in Domain level shows the correct Software Blades licenses, SmartUpdate in MDS level still shows the old NGX licenses.

Cause

When the MDS starts, it requests license information from all managed devices.

Each request contains an index, and these indexes are sequential.

The license information is updated only when the index count is equal to the number of managed devices.

The maximal number of indexes is currently set in the code to 80, and in case there are more managed devices, the count restarts from 0. As a result, wrong licensing information appears in the SmartUpdate in MDS level.
