Connectivity problems between the Security Gateway and the Log Server
Symptoms
  • This SK article describes different scenarios of logging connectivity problems. Each issue has its own cause and solution.

  • Security Management server does not receive logs sent by the Security Gateway, while Security Gateway does not log locally either.

  • "Log server went down" error message in the SmartView Tracker.

  • "<Number> of log entries were not sent to log server <name> because of high load, but were instead sent to backup" error message in the SmartView Tracker.

  • "Sys_message: "too many logs, lost some"" error message in the SmartView Tracker

  • "sys_message: "started sending log to localhost"" error message in the SmartView Tracker.

  • Security Gateway stopped logging externally, or is logging locally.

  • Security Gateway sends logs to the Secondary Log Server, instead of Security Management Server / Primary Log Server.
