'NMINST0069 cannot access to the virtual-system' error when switching from context of VS0 to other contexts over SSH connection
Symptoms
  • 'NMINST0069 cannot access to the virtual-system' error when a user that is authenticated on RADIUS (rba role 'radius-group-any') connects to Security Gateway in VSX mode over SSH and tries to switch from context of VS0 to other contexts with 'set virtual-system VSID' command (and output of 'show virtual-system all' command is empty).

  • The same error 'NMINST0069 cannot access to the virtual-system' appears again if user switches from Clish to Expert mode, exits from Expert mode, and tries to switch from context of VS0 to other contexts with 'set virtual-system VSID' command.

  • Virtual System context switching works correctly for the same user over SSH connection to Security Gateway in in usual non-VSX mode (applies to the above two symptoms).

  • 'NMINST0069 cannot access to the virtual-system' error when a user that is authenticated on RADIUS (rba role 'radius-group-any') and that has a default shell '/bin/bash' connects to Security Gateway in VSX mode over SSH, logs in from Expert mode to Clish, and tries to switch from context of VS0 to other contexts with 'set virtual-system VSID' command (and output of 'show virtual-system all' command is empty).

Cause
  • Symptom 1 and Symptom 2: The user fails to get UID 0.

  • Symptom 4: Clish that is started from Expert mode (Bash shell) inherits the environment from Bash shell. In this case, the username that is returned during Clish verification is 'admin' instead of the real user name.
