'ERROR: 'Application Control' is not responding' in SmartView Monitor, although Application Control works correctly
Symptoms
  • SmartView Monitor shows:

    ERROR: 'Application Control' is not responding. Verify that 'Application Control' is installed on the gateway. If 'Application Control' should not be installed verify that it is not selected in the Products List of the gateway (SmartDashboard > Security Gateway > General Properties > Software Blades List).

    ERROR: 'URL Filtering' is not responding. Verify that 'URL Filtering' is installed on the gateway. If 'URL Filtering' should not be installed verify that it is not selected in the Products List of the gateway (SmartDashboard > Security Gateway > General Properties > Software Blades List).

  • The $FWDIR/appi/update/appi_status.C file is empty on Security Management Server or Gateway.
  • The issue might occur for SG-80 Gateways only due to a missing registry key.
Cause

The $FWDIR/appi/update/appi_status.C file is not populated with necessary information to pass status updates to the Security Management Server.

 

The SG-80 registry is missing APPIEnabled key.
