Note: This solution delivers E80.41 Client and SmartConsole only. E80.41 Clients can be managed by both:

  1. E80.40 Endpoint Security Server using the SmartConsole from this solution.
  2. E80.41 Endpoint Security Server using the SmartConsole from sk92101.

Remote Access VPN clients are managed by Security Gateway and do not require Endpoint Security Server.

Introduction

Starting E80.41, Check Point Endpoint Security is supported on Windows 8, including new Unified Extensible Firmware Interface support (UEFI).

In this release, we are offering four flavors of our software:

  • Endpoint Security E80.41 Clients for Windows - Endpoint Security Suite for Windows, including Windows 8 support and all essential components for total security on the endpoint: Compliance, Anti-Malware, Media Encryption and Port Protection, Firewall and Application Control, Full Disk Encryption, WebCheck, and Remote Access VPN. We support upgrade from VPN Clients to the Endpoint Security Clients. This allows existing Remote Access Clients to add additional Security Blades.

  • Endpoint Security VPN and Remote Access VPN E80.41 Clients for Windows - Starting from this release, Remote Access VPN Clients are part of the Endpoint Security offering, providing the next release of E75.30, including all flavors. The E75 Remote Access Clients series was previously known as Endpoint Security VPN R75.

  • Endpoint Security E80.41 Client for Mac OS X - Including Firewall for desktop security, Compliance, Full Disk Encryption and VPN for transparent remote access to corporate resources.

  • Endpoint Security VPN E80.41 Client for Mac OS X - Provides enhancements and resolves issue for Endpoint Security VPN for Mac E75.

 

What's New

  • Endpoint Security E80.41 Clients for Windows

    This release is for new Endpoint Security E80.41 Clients, and an upgrade for Endpoint Security E80.40 Clients.

    It includes:

    • Windows 8 support for Endpoint Security clients.
    • A new E80.40 SmartConsole with updated SmartEndpoint.
    • Full Disk Encryption support for Intel Digital Random Number Generator (DRNG).
    • A simple way upgrading and adding Blades for exisiting Remote Access VPN Clients to Endpoint Security E80.41 Clients.

    Note: Firewall policy for Endpoint Security E80.41 Clients is defined in SmartEndpoint.

  • Endpoint Security VPN and Remote Access VPN E80.41 Clients for Windows

    The Remote Access VPN Software Blade provides a simple and secure way for endpoints to connect remotely to corporate resources over the Internet, through a VPN tunnel. Check Point offers multiple enterprise-grade clients to fit a wide variety of organizational needs.

    • OsMonitor for Windows 8 - The SCV OsMonitor compliance check supports Windows 8 validation.
    • Certificate enrollment password enforcement - Lets administrators enforce password length for p12 certificate enrollment.
    • New prepackaging tool for VPN configuration - Available for all Remote Access VPN deployments.
    • SCV policy improvements
      • local.scv file is obscured.
      • Added optional SHA-1 function verification for running processes.
    • Updated algorithms in IKE
      • Diffie-Helman Group14 (2048) was added.
    • Encrypted and protected username/password caching for ATM devices - Available through CLI.

  • Endpoint Security E80.41 Client for Mac OS X

    Check Point Endpoint Security client secures endpoints running Mac OS X. The client secures the endpoint using these software blades:

    • Firewall for desktop security
    • Compliance
    • Full Disk Encryption
    • VPN for transparent remote access to corporate resources

    This release is an upgrade for:

    • Endpoint Security E80.40 for Mac
    • Endpoint Security VPN for Mac E75 (and higher)
    • Full Disk Encryption 3.3.5 (and higher) for Mac

    The firewall, compliance, and Full Disk Encryption blades are centrally managed from the E80.40 Endpoint Security Management server (using SmartEndpoint GUI). The VPN blade is managed by the policy created in SmartDashboard and installed on the gateway.

    This release provides these new features and enhancements:

    • Single Sign On and Password Sync support for the Full Disk Encryption Blade
    • Media Encryption Offline Access utility
    • Stabilization and resolved issues


  • Endpoint Security VPN E80.41 Client for Mac OS X

    This release provides enhancements and resolves issue for Endpoint Security VPN for Mac E75.

    This release aligns Endpoint Security VPN for Mac with the Mac Endpoint Security client that is part of the full Endpoint Security E80.41 Suite. You can upgrade from this release to Endpoint Security E80.41 and higher for more Endpoint Security functionality.

    Note: Firewall policy for Endpoint Security VPN Client is defined in SmartDashboard on the 'Desktop' tab.

  • SmartConsole for Endpoint Security E80.41

    A new E80.41 SmartConsole with an updated SmartEndpoint is required for managing E80.41 clients.

This tool does not contain any active security components and is designed to provide a best practice analysis - for Windows-based devices that are running any security solution.

Media Encryption Offline Access Tool E80.41 for Mac

The Media Encryption Offline Access utility lets you:

  • Read information on devices encrypted with Media Encryption for Windows.
  • Write to removable media devices (this depends on the type of removable media device and on the security policy used when encrypting the device). Information you add to the device will also be encrypted.

Note: The utility does not encrypt previously unencrypted removable devices with the Media Encryption for Mac component. You can only read and write to removable devices that were created with Media Encryption for Windows.
