Devices that typically support SNMP include routers, switches, servers, workstations, printers, modem racks and more. SNMP is used mostly in network management systems to monitor network-attached devices for conditions that warrant administrative attention.
SNMP is a component of the Internet Protocol Suite as defined by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). It consists of a set of standards for network management, including an application layer protocol, a database schema, and a set of data objects.
SNMP itself does not define which information (which variables) a managed system should offer. Rather, SNMP uses an extensible design, where the available information is defined by Management Information Bases (MIBs). MIBs describe the structure of the management data of a device subsystem; they use a hierarchical namespace containing object identifiers (OID). Each OID identifies a variable that can be read or set via SNMP. MIBs use the notation defined by Structure of Management Information Version 2 (SMIv2, RFC 2578), a subset of ASN.1.
Check Point provides a set of MIB files that contain definitions of all SNMP counters supported by Check Point software.
These MIB files can be found on the Security Gateway / Security Management Server / Multi-Domain Security Management Server in the following directories:

The 60000 / 40000 Appliances support SNMP OIDs only under: iso.org.dod.internet.private.enterprise.checkpoint.products.asg (OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.2620.1.48).
The 61000 Appliance running R75.40VS for 61000 supports only these SNMP traps: iso.org.dod.internet.private.enterprise.checkpoint.products.chkpntTrap (OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.2620.1.2000) iso.org.dod.internet.private.enterprise.checkpoint.products.asgTrap (OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.2620.1.2001).
The 60000 / 40000 Appliances running R76SP / R76SP.X support only this SNMP trap: iso.org.dod.internet.private.enterprise.checkpoint.products.asgTrap (OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.2620.1.2001).
