Installing a Local License through CLI

  • To install manually:
    Note: For Maestro environments, refer to sk163323.

    1. Connect to command line.
    2. Log in to Expert mode.
    3. Run the following command:
      [Expert@HostName:0]# cplic put <IP Address> <Expiration Date> <License String> <Features>
      Note: The required syntax is sent to you by e-mail when the license is generated, and can be seen in the license in your Product Center account (at the top, click on ASSETS / INFO menu - go to ACCOUNTS & PRODUCTS section).
  • To import the license from a License File:
    Note: For Maestro environments, use the “g_cplic” command instead of the “cplic” command.

    1. Connect to command line.
    2. Log in to Expert mode.
    3. Run the following command:
      [Expert@HostName:0]# cplic put -l </path_to/Name of Licence file>.lic
      Note: The license file is sent to you by e-mail when the license is generated, and can be downloaded in your Product Center account (at the top, click on ASSETS / INFO menu - go to ACCOUNTS & PRODUCTS section).
      Alternatively, you can import the license from a License File via "cpconfig" menu.

 

Installing a License through SmartUpdate

Notes:

  • Central Licenses must be installed via SmartUpdate.
  • In Maestro environments, it is not supported to use SmartUpdate to install a license on non-SMO Security Group Members.

The purpose of the following video is to demonstrate how to install your Check Point security license within SmartUpdate:

  • Add license from license file

    1. Connect with SmartUpdate GUI to Security Management Server / Domain Management Server.
    2. Select the Launch menu and select the "Licenses & Contracts" menu.
    3. Select "Add License" > "From File".
    4. Select the appropriate license file to import.
  • Add license manually

    1. Connect with SmartUpdate GUI to Security Management Server / Domain Management Server.
    2. Select the Launch menu and select the "Licenses & Contracts" menu.
    3. Select "Add License" > "Manually".
    4. Copy the entire "cplic put" string.
      Note: The required syntax is sent to you by e-mail when the license is generated, and can be seen in the license in your Product Center account (at the top, click on ASSETS / INFO menu - go to ACCOUNTS & PRODUCTS section).
    5. Click "Paste".
    6. Click "OK".
  • Attach Central license to Security Gateway

    1. Right-click on the Security Gateway object.
    2. Select "Attach License".
    3. From the provided list, choose the license you wish to attach.
    4. Click "Attach".
    5. Check the operation status at the bottom.

 

Installing a License in SecurePlatform WebUI

Note: In Maestro environments, it is not supported to use the SecurePlatform WebUI to install a license on non-SMO Security Group Members.
  1. Log in to SecurePlatform WebUI in a web browser.
  2. In the left pane, click on "Product Configuration" section.
  3. Click on "Licenses".
  4. Copy the entire "cplic put" string.
    Note: The required syntax is sent to you by e-mail when the license is generated, and can be seen in the license in your Product Center account (at the top, click on ASSETS / INFO menu - go to ACCOUNTS & PRODUCTS section).
  5. Click "Paste License".
  6. Click "Apply".

 

Installing a License in Gaia Portal

Note: In Maestro environments, it is not supported to use Gaia Portal to install a license on non-SMO Security Group Members that are not SMO.
  1. Log in to Gaia Portal in a web browser.
  2. In the left pane, go to "Maintenance" section.
  3. Click on "Licenses" pane.
  4. Copy the entire "cplic put" string.
    Note: The required syntax is sent to you by e-mail when the license is generated, and can be seen in the license in your Product Center account (at the top, click on ASSETS / INFO menu - go to ACCOUNTS & PRODUCTS section).
  5. Click "New".
  6. Paste the entire "cplic put" string.
  7. Click "OK".
