How to confirm NTP settings on SecurePlatform OS Technical Level
Solution

To confirm NTP settings, run the following commands in Expert mode:

  • [Expert@HostName]# ntpstat

  • [Expert@HostName]# cat /etc/sysconfig/ntp

Sample of output:

INTERVAL=0
SERVER1=time.nist.gov
SERVER2=
USE_NTP=true

INTERVAL=1
SERVER1=0.pool.ntp.org
SERVER2=1.pool.ntp.org
SERVER3=
MD5_SECRET=
USE_NTP=true

  • [Expert@HostName]# cpd_sched_config print | grep -A 5 'NtpPoll'

  • [Expert@HostName]# watch -d -n 1 'ps aux | grep ntp | grep -v grep | grep -v watch'

This will show the server(s), interval and MD5_SECRET that you have set for use with NTP.

The last watch command will monitor ps. This is done, as the ntp process only comes up periodically when polling the server, and does not run continuously.

This solution has been verified for the specific scenario, described by the combination of Product, Version and Symptoms. It may not work in other scenarios.
