Check Point MIB file has multiple compliance errors in SMI syntax
Symptoms
  • Compliance errors in SMI syntax in Check Point MIB files ($CPDIR/lib/snmp/chkpnt.mib, $CPDIR/lib/snmp/chkpnt-trap.mib, /etc/snmp/GaiaTrapsMIB.mib) are displayed by MIB Browsers (e.g., CA Spectrum, Fujitsu SystemWalker, HP OpenView, HP Network Node Manager).

  • Compliance errors in SMI syntax in Check Point MIB files ($CPDIR/lib/snmp/chkpnt.mib, $CPDIR/lib/snmp/chkpnt-trap.mib, /etc/snmp/GaiaTrapsMIB.mib) are displayed by various validation web sites (e.g., http://www.simpleweb.org/ietf/mibs/validate , http://www.muonics.com/Tools/smicheck.php)

  • 'Wrong Type (should be ...)' error in the output of 'snmpwalk -v2c -c COMMUNITY IP_ADDRESS -m $CPDIR/lib/snmp/chkpnt.mib' command.

    Example:

    snmpwalk -v2c -c public localhost -m $CPDIR/lib/snmp/chkpnt.mib haClusterIpAddr
CHECKPOINT-MIB::haClusterIpAddr.1.0 = Wrong Type (should be INTEGER): IpAddress: X.X.X.X

  • 'ERROR : Cannot find symbol' are displayed by HP Network Node Manager (NNMi).

    Example:

    [root@NNM920 home]# /opt/OV/bin/nnmloadmib.ovpl -load chkpnt-trap.mib
    Operation LoadMib failed.
Failed to load MIB modules from [chkpnt-trap.mib]: Problems were reported during parsing, unable to load requested MIBs.
    ... ... ... ...
    ERROR : Cannot find symbol file://chkpnt-trap.mib:Line 121:Column 33:multiDiskName
    ... ... ... ...
