How to use Expert mode in Gaia Technical Level

Expert mode can be used to access the system without any restrictions. This should be used carefully, and only by a fully trusted person.

A more secure alternative for Expert mode is creation of external commands in the Clish and assigning them to users. This guarantees administrators are able to perform commands to do their job, but cannot gain more access than is really required.

In order to use Expert mode, you need to perform the following:

  • Set the Expert password using the following Clish command:

    • R75.45 and higher:

      HostName> set expert-password

    • R75.40 and R75.40VS:

      HostName> set expert-password plain

  • Provide the user with the Expert feature, available on the Roles page in the Gaia Portal.

  • Save the changes in Gaia Database using the Clish command "save config".

Only users, who have the Expert feature in their role, and know the Expert password, will be able to use Expert mode.

This solution has been verified for the specific scenario, described by the combination of Product, Version and Symptoms. It may not work in other scenarios.
