Cannot access Mobile Access Portal since 'vpnd' daemon occupies the port used by 'httpd' daemon Technical Level
Symptoms
  • Mobile Access Portal login page does not load in the browser.

  • Killing the VPND daemon manually on Mobile Access Gateway resolves the issue only until next policy installation, or restart of Check Point services (cpstop;cpstart).

  • Output of "ps auxw | grep httpd" command on Mobile Access Gateway shows that "httpd" daemon is stuck in <defunct> state.

  • Debug of HTTPD daemon on Mobile Access Gateway (per sk104577) shows in httpd.starlog file:

    (98)Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to address.
Cause

HTTPD daemon tries to bind to socket 127.0.0.1:80, because of the World Clock demo application's settings.

However, if the Mobile Access Gateway hotspot detection is enabled (value of parameter "hotspot_detection_enabled" is set to "true" in the $FWDIR/conf/trac_client_1.ttm file), then VPND daemon already listens on TCP port 80.

Starting from R71.10, the HTTPD daemon does not require TCP port 80 except for SSL VPN Demo Application (world clock), which requires HTTPD daemon to listen on TCP port 80 and only on 127.0.0.1 (local host).
