SecurePlatform and ISP redundancy mechanism Technical Level
  • When pulling out the cable from one external interface in a multipile external interface configuration, users are still able to ping the disconnected interface.

The reason it behaves this way is because as long as the interface is up, it will be considered alive and will respond to to incoming connections. This is the default behaviour for Linux based operating systems.

This is why when working with two external interfaces, ISP redundancy must be configured on the gateway object.

Bring down one of the interfaces. To bring an interface down/up use the ifconfig IF_NAME down/up commands.

This solution has been verified for the specific scenario, described by the combination of Product, Version and Symptoms. It may not work in other scenarios.
