Endpoint Security Licensing Requirements

Check Point Endpoint Security E80 (and higher) requires the installation of three types of licenses:

  1. Endpoint Security Management
  2. Endpoint Security Software Container
  3. Endpoint Security Software Blade(s)

Generating an Endpoint Security License

To get the license for your Endpoint Security Management Server:

  1. Log in to Check Point User Center.
  2. Click Products and select the account to which your licenses have been registered.
  3. Locate your licenses in the section marked Software Products & Appliances.
  4. For each license, select License in the Actions menu, at the right of the item.
  5. Complete all required fields. Make sure of the following: Version is Software Blades;
    Enter the Endpoint Security Management server IP address.
  6. Click License.
  7. Click the Get License File button. Additionally, the new license file will be emailed to you once you click License.

 

Installing an Endpoint Security License

To install your new license:
  1. Save the license files locally on the same computer on which you have installed SmartConsole.
  2. Launch SmartUpdate.
  3. Select the Licenses & Contracts tab.
  4. From the Licenses & Contracts menu, select Add License > From File.
  5. Navigate to the saved license file, and click Open.

The license will be automatically installed.

 

Installing a Service Contract File

If you have purchased annual Endpoint Security Software Blades, you will also need to install a valid Service Contract File.
To download a Service Contract File:
  1. Log in to Check Point User Center.
  2. Click Support.
  3. Click Additional Services.
  4. Select the Account(s) from which you wish to download the Service Contract File (Note: if you do not select All Accounts, you will need to select the account in which your Endpoint Security licenses reside).
  5. Select Download Now or Email as the delivery method to receive the file.

To install the Service Contract File via SmartUpdate:

  1. Save the Service Contract File locally on the same computer on which you have installed SmartConsole.
  2. Launch SmartUpdate.
  3. Select the Licenses & Contract tab.
  4. From the Licenses & Contracts menu, select Update Contracts > From File.
  5. Navigate to the saved Service Contract File and click Open.

To download and install the Service Contract File via SmartUpdate (requires Management server internet connectivity):

  1. Launch SmartUpdate.
  2. Select the Licenses & Contract tab.
  3. From the Licenses & Contracts menu, select Update Contracts > From User Center.
  4. Read and accept the download agreement
  5. The contract file will be automatically downloaded and will apply to the applicable licenses.

 

To verify if the Service Contract File has been properly installed:

Follow these steps:

  1. Connect to the command line.
  2. Log in to the Expert mode.
  3. Run the following command:
    cplic print

If the Service Contract File has not been installed properly, two additional methods may be used to install the file:

  1. If running in a distributed environment (Security Gateway and Management Server are different machines), then run the following command:
    contract_util mgmt
  2. Save the file locally on the server and run the following command:
    cplic contract put -o <filename>.xml
