Security Policy installation on UTM-1 Edge might fail after installing NGX R65 HFA or minor versions of R70 on Management Server Technical Level
Symptoms
  • Security Policy installation might fail after installing an NGX R65 HFA on a SmartCenter/Provider-1, or minor versions of R70, such as R70.1 or R70.20, on a Security Management/Provider-1 that manages UTM-1 Edge.
Cause

During HFA installation, all INSPECT files related to the UTM-1 Edge compatibility package (located at /opt/CPEdgecmp-R65/libsw/) are overwritten. Any manual changes made on these files will be lost.

For example: If the file /opt/CPEdgecmp-R65/libsw/table.def has been edited and the line: special_ftp_tab = dynamic expires 999; was added, after HFA installation, the change is overwritten by the new table.def.

Note: During installation of minor versions of R70, e.g. R70.1 or R70.20, all INSPECT files related to the UTM-1 Edge compatibility package (located at /opt/CPEdgecmp-R70/libsw/) are overwritten.

Solution

Before installing the NGX R65 HFA, backup /opt/CPEdgecmp-R65/libsw/*.def.

Before installing minor versions of R70, e.g. R70.1 or R70.20, backup /opt/CPEdgecmp-R70/libsw/*.def.

Important: The manual modifications performed on these backed-up files must be integrated into the new files. (Do not restore the previous file.)
