SNMP OID about memory 1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.4.11 returns 0 (zero) for all integer counters after upgrade from R6x to R7x
Symptoms
  • 'snmpwalk' command returns 0 (zero) for all integer counters in SNMP OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.4 (.iso.org.dod.internet.private.enterprises.ucdavis.memory) after upgrade from R6x to R7x.

    Example:
    [Expert@HostName]# snmpwalk -v 2c -c public localhost 1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.4.11
    UCD-SNMP-MIB::memTotalFree.0 = INTEGER: 0
Cause

NET-SNMP is reading /proc/meminfo assuming it has Linux kernel 2.4 format, however the output file format was changed in Linux kernel 2.6

This issue occurs only in R70, R70.1, R71, R71.10, R71.20, R71.30, R71.40, R71.45, R75, R75.10, R75.20 versions, which install NET-SNMP v5.0.9
