Symptoms

SED Opal encryption fails to enable on 2022 Lenovo Thinkpad T14 and T15 laptops.

Cause

In the Lenovo BIOS (Firmware) for the 2022 ThinkPad models T14 and T15, there is a setting called “Block SID Authentication”. This setting prevents Check Point Full Disk Encryption from setting up SED Opal in which it denies access during the SED Opal Ownership procedure.

Note - The “Block SID Authentication” BIOS setting is implemented by Lenovo and is not part of Check Point Harmony Endpoint.
