Message of the Day (MOTD) is not updated with the results of the "asg diag verify" command Technical Level
Symptoms
  • Message of the Day (MOTD) is not updated with the results of the "asg diag verify" command.

  • Although the "asg diag verify" command does not show failed tests, the MOTD shows failures.

  • The default shell is /bin/gclish (Global clish).

  • /var/log/messages shows:
xpand[PID]: Motd message contains illegal characters.

  • /tmp/banMotd_cli.debug shows:
    Error: 1:0101:Motd message contains illegal characters. Only letters, Numbers, Colons and "." ", "?" "!" ";" "@" "/" "*" "(" ")" "-" "|" "+" "=" "#" are allowed.

Cause

An incorrectly set variable causes the MOTD update command to be executed globally, not locally, for each Security Gateway Module (SGM).

This causes the returned value to hold the SGM ID, which contains an unsupported character: the underscore (_)
