Establishing SIC with a Quantum Spark appliance fails with error message: "Security Policy Installation: Reached the Management Server but failed to initialize trusted communication." Technical Level
Symptoms
  • Error message "Security Policy Installation: Reached the Management Server but failed to initialize trusted communication." received when trying to establish SIC from the Quantum Spark appliance via the Security Management Server Configuration Wizard, after inserting the IP address of the Management Server and clicking Connect.

  • Establishing SIC from a Quantum Spark appliance fails during a first deployment of SmartProvision / SmartLSM after creating a SmartLSM profile in the SmartConsole and a ROBO object in the SmartProvision Dashboard. Establishing SIC is successful if you remove the ROBO object and create the Quantum Spark appliance as a regular gateway in SmartConsole.

Cause

The appliance's host name ("hostname") must be identical to the LSM device name as defined in the SmartProvision dashboard.

Solution

Make sure the Quantum Spark hostname is identical to the Object name in the SmartProvision Dashboard.

Workaround:

  1. On the Quantum Spark appliance, set the SIC to be established later on the Management Server.
  2. On the SmartProvision Dashboard, in the Communication settings, add the current IP address of the Quantum Spark appliance and push the SIC from the Management Server to the Quantum Spark appliance.
  3. Verify that SIC is established successfully.
This solution has been verified for the specific scenario, described by the combination of Product, Version and Symptoms. It may not work in other scenarios.
