Empty "pymp" directories in the /tmp/ directory Technical Level
  • There are many empty directories named "pymp-<Some Letters and Digits>" in the /tmp/ directory.

    Example (from the WinSCP window):

  • There are numerous core dump files named "python3.<Number>.core" on the Security Gateway.

This issue occurs because of repetitive restarts of the Advance File Inspection (IFI) engine.

The IFI engine uses Python's "multiprocessing" module, which creates the "pymp" temporary directories for each process. This directory is automatically cleaned when the Python process terminates. If the Python process terminates abruptly, the directory is not cleaned.
