Telnet command shows "connected" for sites forbidden by Application Control and URL Filtering Technical Level
  • The "telnet command shows "Connected" for sites that are not permitted by by Application Control and URL Filtering.

The "telnet" command only checks connectivity. It does not use the resource.


This is an expected behavior.

The "telnet" command does not show if sites are blocked.


This rulebase forbids only some categories, including gambling:


When the user runs the "telnet" command to, the output shows "connected".  

But the page is blocked, and the UserCheck portal is displayed:


The URL Filtering engine looks at the HTTP request, and not only at the IP address.
