During fresh install of OS on Dell Poweredge 6400 receive a kernel panic error preventing the install Technical Level
Symptoms
  • During the fresh installation of the Gaia OS on a Dell Poweredge 6400 there is a kernel panic message and install cannot be completed.
Cause
Gaia OS is not designed to utilize the cpu operation x2APIC.
Solution
  1. Access the BIOS settings for the Dell Poweredge 6400.
  2. Find and access the CPU settings for the server.
  3. Find and turn off the setting for x2APIC.
  4. Reboot and restart the installation process for the GAIA OS.

Turning this setting off should resolve the issue.
