Policy installation fails with "Policy installation had failed due to an internal error"
Symptoms
  • Policy installation fails with "Policy installation had failed due to an internal error. If the problem persists please contact Check Point support" error message.
  • Running CPM debug according to sk112111, the following error is seen: [DATE TIME] ERROR coresvc.internal.IpsDumpMgr [unboundedTaskExecutor-3]: Failed to retrieve IPS package file for install policy Exception:{} CpmGeneralException{base='com.checkpoint.management.is.exceptions.CpmGeneralException', errorCode='CP_ERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND', errorFamily='Can't find file with ID: a6f02ccb-1f78-456a-a323-c1e612675afe', messageForUser='null', message='null'}
  • Muti-Domain Management server was migrated from R80.10 to R80.20.
  • R80.20 Fresh install
Cause

IPS package was reverted to an old package.


Solution

To resolve this issue, perform the Online IPS update:

  1. In SmartConsole, go to IPS -> Updates page in the Profiles navigation tree

  2. Configure an updated policy for the IPS protections that were updated. 

In case that the issue is experienced in VSX: 

  1. Double Click on the VSX Object 
  2. Check IPS Check Box in Network Security and push configuration (Click OK)
  3. In SmartConsole, go to IPS -> Updates page in the Profiles navigation tree
  4. Configure an updated policy for the IPS protections that were updated.
  5. Remove the IPS check box from the VSX object
  6. Push configuration (Click OK)
  7. Install policy - Without Threat Prevention policy
