Checking for a firmware upgrade fails on Small and Medium Business Appliances running R77.20.81 (990172525)
Symptoms
  • Checking for a firmware upgrade fails on SMB appliances running R77.20.81 (990172525). The same issue can also occur on appliances connected to the Security Management Portal (SMP).
Solution

Manually upgrade from the WebUI to the latest firmware version R77.20.81 B2541 (or above).

If a manual upgrade from the WebUI is not possible, run the following commands in expert mode:

  • [Expert@GW]# /opt/fw1/bin/fw check_available_firmware

(Prints a debug; make sure the cat /fwtmp/firmware_check_result is "0" or "5" if the appliance is connected to the Security Management Portal.)

  • [Expert@GW]# /opt/fw1/bin/fw download_firmware

(Downloads the firmware to /storage/firmware/. Should print: “Firmware was successfully downloaded.”)

  • [Expert@GW]# /pfrm2.0/bin/cloud_upgrade.sh

(Performs the actual upgrade and reboots automatically.)
