Unable to create Suspicious Activity Monitoring (SAM) Rule for one cluster member in SmartView Monitor
Symptoms
  • The user is unable to fetch or create SAM rules for one cluster member while successfully doing so for other cluster members.
  • The user sees the following errors:
    "Failed to Monitor SAM."
    "Unable to fetch Suspicious Activity Rules from: Gateway/Cluster_Name"
    "Unable to fetch Suspicious Activity Rules from: Gateway/Cluster_Name"
Cause

Unsynced time between the Security Gateway cluster and the Security Management Server causes issues with Secure Internal Communication (SIC) and with encryption.

Solution
  1. Synchronize the time between Gateway clusters and the Security Management Server.

  2. Uncheck "Use early versions compatibility mode" from the below path:

   Smart Console --> Gateway/Cluster Object --> Other --> SAM

This solution has been verified for the specific scenario, described by the combination of Product, Version and Symptoms. It may not work in other scenarios.
