"No MD role specified" error when Migration\Upgrade of Multi-Domain Management Server from Pre-R80 MDS to R80.10 fails
Symptoms
  • Importing the Multi-Domain Server database fails for the MDS level with "No MD role specified" error.

  • In the $CPDIR/log/migrate-.elg the following error is found:
    ERR: cpdb completed with error code '-1'

  • In $MDS_FWDIR/log/cpm_for_cpdb-.elg the following errors are seen:

    ERROR checkpoint.validations.AdminPermissionsValidationImpl [qtp116579590-691]: Admin [admin name] has no multi domain role
    WARN coresvc.internal.ValidationsSvcImpl [qtp116579590-691]: Validation AdminPermissionsValidation has no validationtype defined
    ERROR coresvc.internal.PermissionManagerSvcImpl [qtp116579590-691]: admin has no MDRole defined.
    ERROR coresvc.internal.PermissionManagerSvcImpl [qtp116579590-691]: No MD role specified
    ERROR internal.operation.OperationSvcImpl [qtp116579590-691]: caught exception "null" from class java.lang.NullPointerException
    ERROR internal.operation.OperationSvcImpl [qtp116579590-691]: caught exception "null" from class java.lang.NullPointerException
    ERROR infrastructure.logging.DefaultExceptionLoggerHandlerImpl [qtp116579590-691]: incident [a3173931-3290-4c62-a115-4fd6c47dbe27]: java.lang.NullPointerException

Cause

An admin object is missing the value for Multi-Domain role.
