Security Gateway is sending wrong format BSD Syslog logs
Symptoms
  • Security Gateway is forwarding the BSD Syslog logs with the following time offset: Mmm dd hh:mm:ss+01:00 Instead of the following offset: Mmm dd hh:mm:ss.
  • Syslog server is unable to parse the timestamp of the logs.
Cause

The BSD protocol requires the timestamp of the logs to arrive in the format of "Mmm dd hh:mm:ss", with a single space following this timestamp field.

When a time offset is added after the timestamp, such as "+01:00" the BSD protocol is unable to parse the timestamp correctly.
