License counter showing incorrect number of seats Technical Level
Symptoms
  • Number of used license seats in the License Report is greater than the number of Endpoint Security clients.
Cause

Endpoint Security Clients were not removed from SmartEndpoint and still retain the licenses, even when the Endpoint Client was removed from the machine.


Solution

Perform the procedure below and contact Check Point Support with the attached file that contains the results of the query below:

For GAIA Server R80/80.10/80.20/80.30/80.40 and R77.30.01 and below:

#$CPDIR/database/postgresql/bin/psql -d uepm -p 18272 -U endpoint -c "Select * FROM device_license WHERE nid NOT IN (select nid from emon_status_data);" > /var/log/licenses_to_release.txt

For Windows Server R77.30.01 and below:

#%CPDIR%\database\postgresql\bin\psql -d uepm -p 18272 -U endpoint -c "Select * FROM device_license WHERE nid NOT IN (select nid from emon_status_data);" > \path_to the file\licenses_to_release.txt

For GAIA Endpoint Security Servers R77.30.02, R77.30.03, EP5.x, EP6.x:

Use port 18273 instead of port 18272, as follows:

#$CPDIR/database/postgresql/bin/psql -d uepm -p 18273 -U endpoint -c "Select * FROM device_license WHERE nid NOT IN (select nid from emon_status_data);" > /var/log/licenses_to_release.txt

For Windows Endpoint Security servers EP5.x, EP6.x use port 18273 instead of port 18272, as follows:

#%CPDIR%\database\postgresql\bin\psql -d uepm -p 18273 -U endpoint -c "Select * FROM device_license WHERE nid NOT IN (select nid from emon_status_data);" > \path_to the file\licenses_to_release.txt
