Compatibility of Windows January 2018 Patch Tuesday Update with Endpoint Security Anti-Malware Blade Technical Level

Abstract

Microsoft released Windows Security Update on January 3rd, 2018 that might be incompatible with some Anti-Virus Software.

The update is only being made applicable automatically to the machines where the Anti-Malware Blade have updated the ALLOW REGKEY (Key="HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE"Subkey="SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\QualityCompat")

 

Check Point Endpoint Security Anti-Malware Blade of any version with signatures dated by December 28, 2017 or later is compatible with Windows January 2018 Update and sets ALLOW REGKEY to allow automatic Windows Update enrollment.

Check Point Endpoint Security Anti-Malware Blade of version E80.72 with signatures dated prior to December 28, 2017 is compatible with Windows January 2018 Patch Tuesday Update and allows manual deployment of Windows Update.

Check Point Endpoint Security Anti-Malware Blade of any earlier version with signatures dated between December 18, 2017 and December 28, 2017 is compatible with Windows January 2018 Patch Tuesday Update and allows manual deployment of Windows Update.

 

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • For fresh deployment of Endpoint Security Anti-Malware Blade on Windows machines where Windows January 2018 Patch Tuesday Update already deployed use Endpoint Security Client E80.72.
  • In case of fresh deployment of earlier versions of Endpoint Security Anti-Malware Blade make sure Anti-Malware signatures are updated prior to installation of Windows Update.
