Notes:

  • Effective Aug 9th, 2017, Smart-1 405/410 Gaia dual image has been replaced, updating Deployment Agent to build 1294.
  • Running Multi-Domain Security Management / Log Server on Smart-1 405 / 410 appliances is not supported.
  • To install R80.10 Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator on Smart-1 405 / 410 appliances, use Take 10 and above.
  • To install R77.30 Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator on Smart-1 405 / 410 appliances, use Take 266 and above.
  • To install Smart-1 405 / 410 appliances from a USB flash device using the ISOmorphic Tool,
    use the ISOmorphic Tool Build 160 (published on 18 June 2017) and above.

Smart-1 405 / 410 Known Limitations

The below table lists all of the Smart-1 405 / 410 Appliances specific known limitations.
Note: All Check Point R80.10 limitations and R77.30 limitations are also relevant.

ID Symptoms
- The size of the R80.10 / R77.30 Dual Image for Smart-1 405 / 410 appliances exceeds the capacity of a DVD disc.
Users should use the ISOmorphic Tool (build 160 and above) from sk65205.
02533913 Upgrade from R77.30 image to R80.10 on Smart-1 405/410 appliances
using the general R80.10 upgrade package from R7X is not supported.
Users must use the special R80.10 upgrade package.

Note:
An upgrade from R77.30 image using the general R80.10 upgrade package
is planned to be supported by October 2017.

 

Smart-1 405 / 410 upgrade from R77.30 image to R80.10

This section provides the relevant steps to upgrade from the R77.30 image to R80.10 version on Smart-1 405 / 410 appliances.

Example scenario:

  1. Smart-1 405 / 410 appliance arrived with a preinstalled Dual Image R80.10 / R77.30
  2. The default image is R80.10
  3. User rebooted the appliance and in the Boot Menu selected the R77.30 image
  4. User has configured the relevant objects
  5. User has decided to upgrade from R77.30 to R80.10 while preserving the current management database

Procedure:

Note: To download this package you will need to have a Software Subscription or Active Support plan.

Important Notes: Do not use this package on any other appliance model, open server or virtual machine.

  • Show / Hide upgrade instructions for Gaia Portal

    For detailed installation instructions, refer to sk92449: CPUSE - Gaia Software Updates (including Gaia Software Updates Agent) - section "(4) How to work with CPUSE".

    • Online installation

      1. CPUSE Software Updates Policy should be configured to allow self-update of CPUSE Agent.
        Otherwise, users should manually install the latest build of CPUSE Agent from sk92449.
      2. Connect to the Gaia Portal on the Smart-1 appliance and navigate to the Upgrades (CPUSE) section - click on the Status and Actions.
      3. In the upper right corner, click on the Add Hotfixes From The Cloud button:
      4. Paste the CPUSE Identifier from the table above and start the search.
      5. When the upgrade package is found, click on the link to add the package to the list of available packages.
      6. Select the upgrade package "R80.10 upgrade from R77.30 on Smart-1 405 / 410 appliance" - click on the More button on the toolbar -
        click on the Verifier (or right-click on the upgrade package and click on the Verifier).
      7. Select the package "R80.10 upgrade from R77.30 on Smart-1 405 / 410 appliance" - click on the Upgrade button on the toolbar.
      8. Smart-1 appliance will be rebooted automatically.
    • Offline installation

      1. Install the latest build of CPUSE Agent from sk92449.
      2. Download the CPUSE Offline package from the table above to your computer.
      3. Connect to the Gaia Portal on the Smart-1 appliance and navigate to the Upgrades (CPUSE) section - click on the Status and Actions page.
      4. In the upper right corner, click on the Import Package button:
      5. In the Import Package window, click on the Browse... button - select the CPUSE package - click on the Upload button.
      6. Select the imported package "Check_Point_R80.10_Smart-1_405_410_R77.30_upgrade.tgz" - click on the More button on the toolbar -
        click on the Verifier (or right-click on the upgrade package and click on the Verifier).
      7. Select the imported package "Check_Point_R80.10_Smart-1_405_410_R77.30_upgrade.tgz" - click on the Upgrade button on the toolbar.
      8. Smart-1 appliance will be rebooted automatically.


  • Show / Hide upgrade instructions for Gaia Clish

    For detailed installation instructions, refer to sk92449: CPUSE - Gaia Software Updates (including Gaia Software Updates Agent) - section "(4) How to work with CPUSE"

    • Online installation

      1. CPUSE Software Updates Policy should be configured to allow self-update of CPUSE Agent.
        Otherwise, users should manually install the latest build of CPUSE Agent from sk92449.
      2. Connect to the command line on the Smart-1 appliance.
      3. Log in to Clish.
      4. Acquire the lock over the Gaia configuration database:
        HostName> lock database override
      5. Import the package from the Check Point cloud (refer to the table above):
        HostName> installer import cloud <CPUSE Identifier>
      6. Show the packages that are available for download:
        Note: Refer to the section "Major Versions" - refer to "R80.10 upgrade from R77.30 on Smart-1 405 / 410 appliance"
        HostName> show installer packages available-for-download
      7. Verify that this package can be installed without conflicts:
        HostName> installer verify <Package_Number>
      8. Download the package from the Check Point cloud:
        HostName> installer download <Package_Number>
      9. Perform the upgrade:
        HostName> installer upgrade <Package_Number>
        Note: The progress (in per cent) will be displayed in Clish.
      10. Smart-1 appliance will be rebooted automatically.
    • Offline installation

      1. Install the latest build of CPUSE Agent from sk92449.
      2. Download the CPUSE Offline package from the table above to your computer.
      3. Transfer the CPUSE Offline package from your computer to the Smart-1 appliance.
      4. Connect to command line on the Smart-1 appliance.
      5. Log in to Clish.
      6. Acquire the lock over the Gaia configuration database:
        HostName> lock database override
      7. Import the package from the hard disk:
        Note: When import completes, this package might be deleted from the original location.
        HostName> installer import local <Full_Path>/Check_Point_R80.10_Smart-1_405_410_R77.30_upgrade.tgz
      8. Show the imported packages:
        Note: Refer to the section "Major Versions" - refer to "Check_Point_R80.10_Smart-1_405_410_R77.30_upgrade.tgz"
        HostName> show installer packages imported
      9. Verify that this package can be installed without conflicts:
        HostName> installer verify <Package_Number>
      10. Perform the upgraee:
        HostName> installer upgrade <Package_Number>
      11. Smart-1 appliance will be rebooted automatically.
