FDE encryption process is not passing Setup Protection state Technical Level
Symptoms
  • FDE encryption process is not passing Setup Protection state.
  • Following errors are seen in the file C:\ProgramData\CheckPoint\Endpoint Security\Full Disk Encryption\Dlog1:
    Attempt to shrink volume \Device\HarddiskVolume5 (0 reclaimable bytes) with 33619968 bytes will now be done
    Shrink() failure: -2147023781
    Failed: shrink_volume()
    SA_Creation Failed to create new SA partition
  • Following errors are seen in the file C:\ProgramData\CheckPoint\Endpoint Security\Full Disk Encryption\Dlog1:

  • At some cases issue might deny machines from properly shutting down or rebooting.
Cause

The Windows machine is running on UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface).

On this machine, the FDE is not able to shrink the volume as the OS is not allowing it.
