Generating CPinfo file in SmartUpdate GUI (connected to Security Management Server that runs on Windows OS) stuck in status "Generating data"
Symptoms
  • Generation of CPinfo file in SmartUpdate GUI (connected to a Security Management Server that runs on Windows OS) is stuck in status "Generating data":
    1. In SmartUpdate GUI, go to the Tools menu - go to the Upload diagnostics (CPinfo) to Check Point submenu - click on Settings
    2. Select the checkbox Enable "Generate CPInfo" menu (requires SmartUpdate restart)
    3. In SmartUpdate GUI, go to the Package Management tab
    4. Right-click on the object of Security Gateway / Security Management Server that runs on Windows OS - select Generate CPInfo...
    5. Operation Status window shows:
      OperationStatusProgress
Getting diagnostics (CPinfo) from <Object_Name>Generating dataIn Progress
      Example:
  • Right-clicking on the object of a Security Gateway that runs on any OS other than Windows OS (e.g., Gaia OS) and selecting Generate CPInfo... works as expected - the CPinfo file is generated completely and in timely manner.
Cause

On a Security Management Server that runs on Windows OS, in the background, the CPinfo command is executed in the interactive way (without the "-i" flag) - i.e., the CPinfo command waits for a user input, which it never receives (because it is executed in the background).
