Topology is not set correctly in SmartDashboard for interfaces named "Internal" and "External" Technical Level
Symptoms
  • Topology in SmartDashboard for interfaces named "Internal" and "External" (e.g., on UTM-1, Power-1, DLP-1 appliances) is always set based on their names:

    • For interface named "Internal" is always set to "Internal (leads to the local network)"
    • For interface named "External" is always set to "External (leads out to the Internet)"

    Example scenario:

    1. Interface named "Internal" is assigned with "external" IP address, and default route leads via this interface
    2. Interface named "External" is assigned with "internal" IP address
    3. Open the corresponding object in SmartDashboard
    4. Go to "Topology" tab - click on "Get..." button - click on "Interfaces with Topology..."
    5. Topology is not set correctly for these interfaces:
      • For interface "Internal" it is set to "Internal (leads to the local network)"
      • For interface "External" it is set to "External (leads out to the Internet)"
Cause

This is the current design.
