Domain Name that was configured in First Time Configuration Wizard does not appear in the /etc/hosts file on Gaia OS
Symptoms
  • Domain Name that was configured in First Time Configuration Wizard does not appear in the /etc/hosts file on Gaia OS:

    1. Install Gaia OS and reboot the machine
    2. Connect to Gaia Portal - First Time Configuration Wizard opens
    3. Configure Domain Name (FQDN) for this machine
    4. Complete the First Time Configuration Wizard and reboot the machine
    5. The configured FQDN does not appear in the /etc/hosts file
  • If Domain Name was configured in First Time Configuration Wizard on Security Management Server / Multi-Domain Security Management Server, then connecting with SmartConsole GUI clients using FQDN (instead of IP) to Gaia machine that runs Security Management Server / Multi-Domain Security Management Server fails with "Cannot Resolve Name!" error.

  • Not possible to add Domain Name (FQDN) of hosts to the /etc/hosts file on Gaia OS.

Cause

By the current design, FQDN is not added to the /etc/hosts file on Gaia OS.
