What's New in 3000 Appliances

    The 3000 Security Gateway appliance series is built to protect branch offices from both known and unknown threats with Anti-Virus, Anti-Bot, SandBlast Threat Emulation (Sandboxing), and SandBlast Threat Extraction technologies.

    The Check Point 3000 Security Gateway appliance series combines the most comprehensive security protections to safeguard your branch and small office deployments. The 3000 Security Gateway appliance series is available in a compact desktop form factor. This powerful Security Gateway appliance is optimized to deliver real-world threat prevention to secure your critical assets and environments.

    The latest 3000 appliances, Quantum 3600 Base and Quantum 3800 Base series come with a first year subscription to the full SandBlast Prevention suite.

    • 3100 / 3200 Appliances support Security Gateway and Standalone (Gateway + Management) deployment.
    • To install Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator for R80.20 on 3100 / 3200 appliances, use Take 17, which became the default version on January 15, 2019.
    • To install Jumbo Hotfix Accumulator for R77.30 on 3100 / 3200 appliances, use Take 216 and above.
    • Previous R77.30 images are still available for download through sk114513.
    • To connect to the command line interface of the 3100 / 3200 Appliances, a Mini USB can be used. To use the Mini USB console port, download and install the 3000 Appliances Mini USB console driver on the console client machine (desktop/laptop).
      The Driver Installation Guide in PDF format for each OS is added to the same archive.

    3000 Appliance Known Limitations

    The below table lists all of the 3000 Appliance specific known limitations.

    Note: All Check Point R77.30 limitations are relevant as well.

    ID Symptoms
    GAIA-7037 In some scenarios, configuring the eth5 interface speed in Gaia Portal fails.
    • Workaround: Use Gaia Clish.
    GAIA-6951 Interfaces eth1, eth2, eth3, and eth4 on 3600 / 3600T / 3800 appliances do not support static configuration of the interface speed (these interfaces always work in auto-negotiation).
    02277321 On 3100 / 3200 appliances, when using Solid State Drive (SSD), the local logging feature in SmartConsole is not supported on the Security Gateway. In case of a disconnection between the Log Server and the Security Gateway, logs will automatically be saved locally on the Security Gateway.
    02277361 In 3100 / 3200 appliances, Solid State Drive (SSD) provides a total of 240GB storage space. The equivalent HDD based product provides a total of 320GB storage space.
    - The size of the R80.10 / R77.30 Dual Image for these appliances exceeds the capacity of a DVD disc.
    Users should use the ISOmorphic Tool (build 160 and above) from sk65205.
    PMTR-49654 On 3600, 3800 and 3600T appliances, alarm led turns on if one of the PSUs is disconnected. Refer to sk166000.
