Follow these steps to connect to Check Point appliances over serial console port:
Disconnect the power from the appliance completely. Important: The power should remain completely disconnected for at least 1-2 minutes before proceeding. The power needs to drain from all the capacitors.
Connect a computer to the console port on the appliance (use the serial console cable supplied with appliance).
Configure Serial connection in your console application (PuTTY, HyperTerminal, SecureCRT, Minicom, etc).
Note: Refer to the Getting Started Guide for the relevant appliance (see sk96246).

Reconnect the power to the appliance.
If the console does not respond, then press any key on the keyboard. If this does not help, then check the cable and/or settings in your console application.
Note: Serial connection might work without reboot as well.
