Locally configured DNS Servers on Gaia OS are not restored after disconnecting from a DHCP Server
Symptoms
  • Locally configured DNS Servers on Gaia OS are not restored in the following scenario:

    1. DNS Servers were configured locally on Gaia OS (either via Gaia Portal, or via Gaia Clish).
    2. An interface on Gaia OS was configured to obtain an IP address from a DHCP Server.
    3. DHCP Server also assigns DNS Servers in its lease.
    4. When an interface on Gaia OS obtains an IP address from a DHCP Server, the locally configured DNS Servers are overridden by the DNS Server obtained from the DHCP update.
    5. After disconnecting (or disabling) the involved interface from a DHCP Server, or after shutting down the DHCP Server, the locally configured DNS Servers on Gaia OS are not restored.
    6. As a result, Gaia machine is not able resolve hostnames, which impacts the traffic.
