E-mails do not reach the client after selecting Cluster Virtual Interface(s) in MTA "Advanced Settings" Technical Level
Symptoms
  • E-mails do not reach the client after selecting Cluster Virtual Interface(s) in MTA "Advanced Settings"
(open Cluster object properties - go to "Mail Transfer Agent" pane - in "Advanced Settings" section, click on "Configure Settings..." button - in "Select on which interfaces to listen" section, select "Use specific" - click on [+] to add Cluster Virtual Interface(s)).

  • /var/log/maillog file on cluster member(s) shows:

... postfix/pickup[PID]: fatal: parameter inet_interfaces: no local interface found for <VIP_ADDRESS>
    ... postfix/master[PID]: warning: process /opt/postfix/usr/libexec/postfix/pickup pid <PID> exit status 1
    ... postfix/master[PID]: warning: /opt/postfix/usr/libexec/postfix/pickup: bad command startup -- throttling

Cause

The MTA Advanced Settings let you configure on which interfaces Security Gateway would listen for SMTP traffic sent for Threat Emulation. When configured, the MTA runs on all cluster members, regardless of member state: Active or Standby.

For cluster setup, the "All interfaces" option should be selected.
