Symptoms
  • "pre_upgrade_verifier" command on R80 / R80.10 fails during pre-upgrade verification with "Users database needs to be fixed":

Cause

Objects that are referenced in the $FWDIR/conf/fwauth.NDB file do not exist in the $FWDIR/conf/objects_5_0.C file.


Solution

In order to continue with upgrade procedure, you should delete references to non-existing objects in each problematic User that is mentioned in the error message:

  1. Connect to command line on the Security Management Server.

  2. Log in to Expert mode.

  3. Start Check Point services with cpstart command.

  4. Connect with SmartDashboard to Security Management Server.

  5. Go to Manage menu - click on Users and Administrators...

  6. For each problematic User mentioned in the error:

    1. Click on Edit... button

    2. Check all the user's properties - delete each non-existing object.

    3. Click on OK to save the changes in the user's properties.

    Example: Need to remove object "Net2" from user "Alice":


  7. Click on OK to close the Manage window.

  8. Save the changes: go to File menu - click on Save.

  9. Close SmartDashboard: go to File menu - click on Exit.

  10. Connect to command line on the Security Management Server.

  11. Log in to Expert mode.

  12. Stop Check Point services with cpstop command.

  13. Continue the upgrade operation.
