SNMP request for OID 'fwAcceptBytesIn' and OID 'fwAcceptBytesOut' returns '0'
Symptoms
  • In the output of "snmpwalk -v2c -c public localhost" command, values of OID fwAcceptBytesIn and of OID fwAcceptBytesOut are always 0 (zero) on all interfaces.

    Example:
    SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.2620.1.1.25.5.1.8.11.0 = INTEGER: 0

    The following OIDs are involved:

    fwAcceptPcktsIn:1.3.6.1.4.1.2620.1.1.25.5.1.5
    fwAcceptPcktsOut:1.3.6.1.4.1.2620.1.1.25.5.1.6
    fwAcceptBytesIn:1.3.6.1.4.1.2620.1.1.25.5.1.7
    fwAcceptBytesOut:1.3.6.1.4.1.2620.1.1.25.5.1.8

    This obviously cannot be true, since packets are traversing in and out of the machine, so the in and out bytes should show a value larger than '0' (in accordance to the packets).

  • The value of OID fwAcceptPcktsIn and OID fwAcceptPcktsOut is shown correctly.

    Example:
    SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.2620.1.1.25.5.1.5.11.0 = INTEGER: 1227077
Cause

Code mismatch, which results in empty result.
