"tcpdump" / "arp" (and other) commands do not work when authenticating with RADIUS user, even if user is SuperUser on Gaia OS (UID 0)
Symptoms
  • "tcpdump" / "arp" (and other) commands do not work when authenticating with RADIUS user, even if user is SuperUser on Gaia OS (UID 0).

  • Running the relevant binary file directly works (/usr/sbin/tcpdump, /sbin/arp). Other external commands also work as expected.

  • If the default shell of RADIUS user is Bash (/bin/bash), then changing the default shell from Bash (/bin/bash) to Clish (/etc/cli.sh) and to Bash (/bin/bash) again, makes the "tcpdump" / "arp" (and other) commands work as expected.

Cause

User sudo has no access to relevant directories (e.g., /usr/sbin/, /sbin/).
