Avaya VoIP calls with Avaya Call Manager fail through Check Point Security Gateway
Symptoms
  • Avaya VoIP Phones can not establish connection to Avaya Call Manager using H.323 protocol through Check Point Security Gateway:

    • When VoIP is initiated, there is no answer on the other side
    • H.323 phone does not register
Cause

When using Avaya H.323 / H.225 / SIP phones with Check Point Security Gateway, often it is required to restrict ports used by the VoIP phones and make sure that the Security Gateway dynamically opens the ports necessary for call setup and call tear-down using Check Point H.323 handlers (H.323 and H.323_RAS).

However, default configuration of Check Point H.323 handlers do not dynamically open the ports for the VoIP phones.
