During policy installation, SmartDashboard suddenly disconnects; after that Edge devices are not able to connect to this Service Center

During policy installation, SmartDashboard suddenly disconnects from Security Management Server / Domain Management Server.
There are no error messages.
After the failed policy installation, Edge devices are not able to connect to this Service Center.
Only after manual restart of SMS process resolves this issue.
After enabling the generation of core dump files per sk92764, core dump file was created for FWM process and for SMS process during policy installation.
FWM core dump file contains the following stack:
