Database migration from R75.40 and higher to R77, R77.10, or R77.20 fails
Symptoms
  • Database migration from R75.40 and higher to R77, R77.10, or R77.20 fails with "malloc failed: Cannot allocate memory" error in $FWDIR/log/upgrade_log-<time of database import>.elg.

  • Database import seems to complete successfully, but FWM process fails to start.
Cause

This happens due to large Hit Count table.


Solution

To resolve the problem, a new version of the Migration Tools package for R77, R77.10 and R77.20, with an updated Pre Upgrade Verifier (PUV) utility, that detects problems during database export, was released.

This new package suggests solutions and stops while the problem exists. The new version of the utility is enhanced to detect a large Hit Count table during database export. Use a solution suggested by the PUV.
