How to move / duplicate SmartView Tracker custom query to another user
Solution

By design, custom queries are available only for the user who created the query.

Follow these steps:

  • To move an existing custom query from one user to another:

    1. In SmartView Tracker, copy the exact name of the relevant query.

    2. In SmartDashboard, copy the exact name of the relevant user (to which you are going to move an existing query).

    3. Close all SmartConsole windows (SmartDashboard, SmartView Tracker, SmartView Monitor, etc.).

    4. Connect with GuiDBedit Tool to Security Management Server / Domain Management Server.

    5. In the upper left pane, go to 'Table' - 'Other' - click on 'TrackerTree' - do NOT select any objects in the upper right pane.

    6. Press CTRL+F (or go to 'Search' menu - 'Find'):

      1. Clear all boxes.
      2. Check the box 'Values'.
      3. Check the box 'Match whole string only'.
      4. In the 'Find what:' field, paste the exact name of the SmartView Tracker query - click on 'Find Next'.

      Example:

    7. In the lower pane, go to the very bottom - to the user attribute.

Right-click on the 'user' - 'Edit...' - paste the exact name of the user, to which you are moving an existing query - click on 'OK':

      Example:

    8. Save the changes: go to 'File' menu - click on 'Save All'.

    9. Close the GuiDBedit Tool.

    10. Connect with SmartView Tracker to Security Management Server / Domain Management Server as the user, to which you moved an existing query.

Note: The query will not be visible to the original user anymore.

  • To duplicate a custom query and assign it to another user:

    1. Connect with SmartView Tracker to Security Management Server / Domain Management Server

    2. Right-click on the custom query - click on 'Copy' - save the query under a new name:

      Example:

    3. In SmartView Tracker, copy the exact name of the copied query.

    4. In SmartDashboard, copy the exact name of the relevant user (to which you are going to move an existing query).

    5. Close all SmartConsole windows (SmartDashboard, SmartView Tracker, SmartView Monitor, etc.).

    6. Connect with GuiDBedit Tool to Security Management Server / Domain Management Server.

    7. In the upper left pane, go to 'Table' - 'Other' - click on 'TrackerTree' - do NOT select any objects in the upper right pane.

      Example:

    9. In the lower pane, go to the very bottom - to the user attribute.

Right-click on the 'user' - 'Edit...' - paste the exact name of the user, to which you are moving a copied query - click on 'OK':

      Example:

    10. Save the changes: go to 'File' menu - click on 'Save All'.

    11. Close the GuiDBedit Tool.

    12. Connect with SmartView Tracker to Security Management Server / Domain Management Server as the user, to which you moved a copied query.
