State of VLAN interface created on Bond interface changes from "Down" to "Up" after adding a comment on the Bond interface
Symptoms
  • State of VLAN interface that was created on Bond interface and was administratively set to "Down", is changed to "Up" after adding a comment on the Bond interface.

    Example:

    • Before (correct expected state):

      • Gaia Clish shows state "off"

        HostName> show interface bond1.777
        state off
      • Expert mode does not show the "UP" flag

        [Expert@HostName:0]# ifconfig bond1.777
        BROADCAST MASTER MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
    • Added a comment on the Bond interface:

HostName> set interface bond1 comments "External Interface"
      HostName> save config
    • After (interface's state changes):

      • Gaia Clish now shows state "on"

        HostName> show interface bond1.777
        state on
      • Expert mode now shows the "UP" flag

        [Expert@HostName:0]# ifconfig bond1.777
UP BROADCAST MASTER MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
Cause

By the current Gaia OS design, after any change in the Bond configuration, the Bond interface is brought down, the changes are applied, and the Bond interface is brought up. This causes all VLAN interfaces created on this Bond interface to be brought up as well.
