Cannot login to LOM WebUI on 13500, 21600, 21700, Smart-1 225, Smart-1 3050 & Smart-1 3150 appliances
Symptoms
  • After a few weeks of operation, the LOM WebUI will not allow to log in on 13500, 21600, 21700, Smart-1 225, Smart-1 3050 & Smart-1 3150 appliances:

    After entering the credentials and pressing the login button, the login process takes longer than usual (2-3 minutes) and ends with the error message "Invalid Authentication".
  • Issue occurs on:

    • 13500 appliance running LOM firmware vv.1.20 - v1.27
    • 21600 appliance running LOM firmware v1.25
    • 21700 appliance running LOM firmware v1.25
    • Smart-1 225, Smart-1 3050, Smart-1 3150 appliance running LOM firmware v2.00b11
Cause

The /var partition of the LOM card is full and further writing to this partition is not possible.

Workaround:

 To resume normal LOM operation:

  1. Login to Gaia OS as an administrator by connecting to the machine from console or over SSH:
    HostName> expert
    Enter expert password:

     
  2. Start the IPMI service:
    [Expert@gateway:0]# service ipmi start

    Output should show:
    Starting ipmi drivers: [ OK ]


  3. Trigger a LOM card reboot:
    [Expert@HostName:0]# ipmitool mc reset warm
     
  4. Stop the IPMI service:
    [Expert@HostName:0]# service ipmi stop
